JDS Photography

At JDS Photography, I focus on a pleasing image to the eye as Art,
Not just the technical details.
I specialize in creative photography and fine art, so I look at photography differently than most others.
Some only document an event, I try to find Art in every image.

I am available for Portrait, Model & Acting Portfolios, Event, Automotive, Product, Real-estate photography and of course Fine Art Gallery Prints. I specialize in low light photography for Concerts / nightlife or corporate events. I am currently the Boston Area event photographer for ClubZone.com

If you want images that are more interesting than a well exposed snap shot please contact me for your needs.

Artist Bio:

I have been an artist from an early age. My primary medium was drawing but I also enjoyed painting. In grade school one of my drawings was selected to be featured on the cover of the Town’s Annual Report. Later in High school my art teacher asked to submit one of my drawings into a regional competition hosted by the Boston Globe. She later presented me with a certificate of the Boston Globe Golden Key award.

I had an interested in Photography in School but could not afford a camera. Fast forward through life and the responsibilities of the world and I slowly stopped drawing and painting. I got married in 1999 and in 2000 my Wife and I were expecting our first child. Ironically I still did not own a camera. With a child on the way, I would need a camera and knew I could not get a simple ‘point and shoot’. The rest is self evident.

I was very excited about photography as my artistic creativity was renewed. Every creative person needs an outlet, be it music, dance, Painting etc. and Photography is my current medium of choice.

I have done many kinds of Photography, but my real focus is Fine Art Photography.

I am for the most part self taught, however I have attended workshops at:
Whitepines College (now Chester College)
New Hampshire Institute of Art
SOPHA (The Studio of Photographic Arts).

I have a Certificate from Nikon School, and have attended one day classes with famous Photographers such as Robert Zimmerman, David Mecey, Moose Peteson, Michael Grecco and Lou Jones.

For those with a knowledge of Photography interested in what equipment I use, I shoot with a Canon 5D MkII (21mp)
Lenses used are:
Canon 24-70 f/2.8 L
Canon 70-200 f/2.8 L IS
Canon 17-40 f/4 L
Canon 50mm f/1.4
For lighting I have softboxes and various umbrellas
I have four flashes triggered by Pocket Wizard PlusII's and use gels, when needed to color the light.
Software used is Photoshop CS3 and LightRoom2

News: I am building a collection of images of abandoned vehicles for a series and hopefully a book. If you know of any local 60’s and older unrestored vehicles sitting in the weeds or a barn... please let me know the location. - Thanks
